PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A Chester County hospital that abruptly shuttered its doors last year will reopen under new ownership.
ChristianaCare announced Wednesday it will purchase Jennersville Hospital in West Grove from Tower Health.
The hospital will reopen under the name ChristianaCare West Grove Campus.
ChristianaCare officials said the details of the sale are still being worked out, but it was unclear when services will resume.
The purchase will include the hospital and two office buildings, with an additional 24 acres of land. Previous employees were not guaranteed jobs, as the deal does not include any personnel.
Jennersville Hospital closed last December. Surrounding residents were left with limited emergency services, as the closest hospital with emergency services is 45 minutes away.
Officials said the deal will help improve response times and patient outcomes.
