PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — The long-awaited lineup for Philadelphia’s Fourth of July concert on the Parkway is out, and multiple-time Grammy Award winning singer Christina Aguilera will be the headliner along with a host of Philly icons.
For months, Mayor Cherelle Parker has been promising a concert so exceptional that it would be the lasting legacy of the city’s Semiquincentennial, its memory equal to the Memorial Hall left from the Centennial celebration.
“We wanted a show that felt unmistakably Philadelphia,” said Parker.
Aguilera grew up in Pittsburgh, but Philadelphia will be well-represented too with Will Smith, DJ Jazzy Jeff, the Roots, Jill Scott, State Property, Kathy Sledge and Media’s own Wanda Sykes as host.
Other acts include Seal and Infinity Song.

Scott Mirkin, the show’s producer, promised a friction-less experience.
“Every detail about how we keep people comfortable, safe, is going to be smooth,” he said. “They’re going to know what’s going on from the time they show up at 18th and the Parkway where maybe the entrance will be and go, ‘I know where I’m going and this is great.’”
There’s also a FIFA World Cup game that day and the fan fest on nearby Lemon Hill. The mayor said more details about logistics are coming.
