PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — The first class-action lawsuit has been filed against SPS Technologies after the massive fire at its 560,000-square-foot factory in Abington Township, Montgomery County.
The fire broke out late on Monday, Feb. 17. It was only declared fully extinguished Saturday afternoon.
The fire marshal has not yet determined the cause of the fire, but the new lawsuit claims the fire was caused by the company’s failure to inspect, properly maintain and operate its facilities.
The lead plaintiff is a bus driver for Abington schools, one of the districts forced to close for several days because of the fire.
The lawsuit seeks compensation and damages for emotional distress.
