PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A convenience store clerk was shot and killed during a possible robbery in the Frankford section of Philadelphia early Thursday morning.
Around 12:30 a.m., officials said a woman ran up to officers who were patrolling at Frankford Avenue and Pratt Street and reported a shooting at the Frankford Convenience Store.
According to Chief Inspector Scott Small, the officers found a bleeding, unresponsive man on the floor behind the counter. He was shot in the shoulder and torso. There were spent shell casings near his body.
"The cash register was open. We found several bills on the floor next to the victim," Small said.
Police took the 34-year-old victim to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
There was no sign of the shooter, but police said they were able to access footage from surveillance cameras inside and outside the store. They did not release a description of a suspect or say how much money that person may have gotten away with.
