PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A police officer crashed their motorcycle into another officer’s bike during a motorcade on I-95 Thursday morning.

It happened just before 8 a.m. in the southbound lanes near Penn’s Landing during a procession for WMMR’s Camp Out For Hunger.

Both officers fell onto the road. One quickly got back up, but the other stayed on the ground for a moment before finally getting up and walking away.

According to Pennsylvania State Police, it was initially believed that a door of a disabled van on the left shoulder opened into the motorcade's path, causing the officers to lose control. Officials are investigating further.

The officers are from the Abington and Upper Dublin police departments. Both officers were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The procession was on its way to the Camp Out For Hunger event at the South Philadelphia Sports Complex. The motorcade halted and blocked all traffic for about 15 minutes before allowing some cars to pass.
