PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A corner store employee was shot in the face during a robbery in Frankford Sunday night.

It happened around 11 p.m. at the Bridge Market and Wireless convenience store near Bridge Street and Torresdale Avenue.

Police Capt. Tyrell McCoy said the employee was counting money when a man walked in and stuck a gun in between the bulletproof glass.

“We just know that there is a male that was dressed in all black clothing that entered, pulled out that firearm, shot one time. And then after he picked up as much money as he could, he actually fled,” he said.

A few minutes later, investigators said several other men walked in through the back of the store and started taking the money that was left.

Police took two of those men into custody for questioning. They are still looking for the shooter.

Police took the 27-year-old worker to the hospital, where he is in stable condition.
