DARBY, Pa. (KYW Newsradio) — A crossing guard in Delaware county is facing multiple charges after officials said she provided students with vapes they believed contained marijuana.

Kiara Lee, 26, is charged with possession of marijuana with intent to deliver, and corruption of a minor.

Darby Borough Police it was in mid May when they were contacted by the guardian of a student at Penn Wood Middle School about Lee’s suspected distribution of marijuana and vape pens to teens at the school.

Delaware County District Attorney Jack Stollsteimer said students spotted the middle school crossing guard providing students with vapes on multiple occasions and even smoking with the kids.

In a release about Lee’s arrest, Stollsteimer said Lee’s actions were “deeply disturbing, and corrosive to the well-being of the entire community.”

“School crossing guards epitomize the role of public servant. They are — quite literally — entrusted with the lives of our children and hold a position of sacred trust in communities across the Commonwealth and the country,” he continued.

The DA’s office is encouraging families with concerns about their child’s interactions with Lee, to contact the Darby Borough Police Department.
