PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Days of protests in Colombia have turned to deadly unrest with demonstrators being killed and many more missing. Philadelphia's Colombian community gathered on the Art Museum steps Wednesday afternoon to show solidarity.

Dozens of protesters showed up dressed in yellow, red and blue — colors of the Colombian flag.

"It's not only about taxes," said one demonstrator. "We are tired of this corruption. We are tired. The system is killing activists. Stop! No more!"

Demonstrators held signs that read "SOS Colombia," and "Nos Estan Matando" — or, "They're Killing Us."

Videos circulating online show protests turning into violent clashes with police.

Like many in attendance, Emma Restrepo said her family is in Colombia. She wants to bring attention to what's happening in the country.

"Colombia needs peace, and Colombia needs reform," said Cristina Escobar.

She says more rallies are set to take place in other large cities around the country.
