PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner skipped an election night party but basked in his reelection victory on Wednesday outside of his Center City office.
He said he’s been working on plans for his third term for months, but he wants to get feedback on the public’s priorities before finalizing them. He’ll be taking email suggestions at justice@phila.gov.
“People of goodwill, people who care about each other, I’m asking for ideas,” he said. “What we actually need is ideas from the public, from the people most affected by our criminal justice system. We need to stay connected to that and connected to them.”
Krasner said he will announce his goals for the next four years closer to his inauguration in January.
As he did throughout the campaign, Krasner ignored his opponent, Pat Dugan, despite Dugan’s vitriolic concession speech in which he called Krasner a “curse” on Philadelphia.
“[Krasner] trolls judges, sneers at other lawyers, and tries to intimidate anyone who dares to call out the anarchy he has unleashed on our city,” Dugan said. “He is a bad person who protects bad people.”
Instead, Krasner aimed his remarks at President Donald Trump.
“How’s your midterms looking?” the DA asked. “Do you think it’s a good idea to make sure that children don’t have food? Do you think it worked out for you? Well, I think Philadelphia just told you something.”
Krasner spoke for about 15 minutes on Wednesday, taking credit for a higher-than-usual voter turnout, then went back inside without taking questions.
