MAYS LANDING, N.J. (KYW Newsradio) — A New Jersey man has been indicted for recording men on his cellphone as they used the restrooms in a Wawa and gym.

Investigators say Daniel Zhang, 23, of Egg Harbor City, admitted to police that he surreptitiously recorded men in the restroom at a Planet Fitness and a nearby Wawa in Hamilton Township.

The investigation began last September when police were called to the Planet Fitness. There, they questioned Zhang, and he admitted to making the recordings. Authorities say a search of his phone turned up 49 videos of unidentified victims, recorded between May and September 2024 in and outside Atlantic County.

Court records show Zhang was arrested on March 4. On Thursday, an Atlantic County grand jury indicted Zhang on 15 counts of invasion of privacy.

He faces a pretrial hearing on April 25 before Atlantic County Judge Joseph Levin.
