PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Philadelphia police are looking for four men caught on video trying to carjack a driver in Spring Garden, who narrowly escaped.
Dashcam video from the victim's car shows a group of men using what police believe is a stolen sedan. They cut off the driver on Green Street, near North 17th Street, around 1 a.m. on Jan. 27. Now in front of the victim, the sedan blocks him from continuing down Green Street, and four men step out.
In the video, two approach the driver. At least one is armed with a gun.
The driver then puts his car in reverse and backs away from the suspects down the one-way street, but they chase him on foot. The driver puts the car back in drive and speeds past them, clipping the driver's side door of the stolen sedan as he escapes.
SEPTA provided surveillance video to police that shows the four suspects on the Market-Frankford Line before the incident.
Anyone who sees these suspects should call 911. Tips can be submitted by calling or texting 215-686-8477. Tips can also be submitted anonymously online.
