
PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) -- Seven people, including a 15-year-old boy, were shot and killed in separate incidents on a violent Monday in Philadelphia. There were five shootings in five different parts of the city before 8 p.m.
The youngest victim was shot several times when he was in the area of 29th and Morris streets in South Philadelphia. It was around 8 p.m., and police say after the 15-year-old was shot, he ran a block over to South Hollywood Street and collapsed. He was taken to the hospital, where he died.
Police also say a woman was shot and killed on 4200 Ridge Avenue in East Falls at around 8:30 a.m.
Three of the other incidents were double shootings. Police say a man and a woman, both 24 years old, were found shot to death on Hill Creek Drive in Crescentville at 12:45 a.m. Investigators say a 5-year-old, believed to be the couple’s child, was in the house as well but was not injured.
At around 2 p.m., police say two people in their 20s were shot in the area of 2nd and Rubicam streets in Olney. The woman died, while the man survived and was taken to the hospital, where he is now listed in stable condition.
Then, about an hour later, police say two men were shot and killed in the area of Rosehill and Cambria streets in Kensington.
Investigators say no one has been arrested connection with any of these cases. As of Tuesday morning, the Philadelphia Police Department has tallied 62 homicides in the city this year so far, a 55% increase over the same period of time last year.
