PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A 16-year-old girl was killed and five other teens were hurt in an overnight crash on Columbus Boulevard, near the I-95 exit.

Police said around 1:30 a.m., a Nissan Maxima sedan was traveling southbound on I-95 and got off at the Washington Avenue exit.

According to Pennsylvania State Police, the car was speeding along the off-ramp when it struck the concrete median before the traffic light.

“According to a witness, the vehicle then went airborne and landed on its passenger side,” said Chief Inspector Scott Small.

There were six teens in the car. A 16-year-old girl, who was in the back passenger seat, died at the hospital.

Two girls, ages 15 and 17, were critically injured.

The three 17-year-old boys in the car, including the driver, are stable.

A tow truck hauled away the wreckage.

Police are investigating whether drugs or alcohol played a factor in this deadly single-car crash.
