PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Four people, including a pregnant teen, were killed on Wednesday in a high-speed chase with Pennsylvania State Police in Delaware County, when the car they were in crashed.
State police say troopers were patrolling Brinton Lake Shopping Center in Concord Township following a recent series of retail thefts. Officials say, around 1:30 p.m., troopers observed seven people inside a suspicious-looking red Ford Taurus — the car had a tinted windshield, expired inspection stickers, and a temporary paper Delaware registration obscured by a tinted license plate cover.
One of the seven was believed to have been involved in a previous theft at the location.
State police say troopers attempted a traffic stop as the Taurus approached the intersection of Brinton Lake Road and Mill Road in Thornbury Township. Police said the driver did not yield to their emergency lights and siren, and took off, triggering a 7-mile, high-speed chase.
The police radio dispatcher said the driver was "doing about 110 mph."
As the Taurus approached the Route 332 overpass at Chichester Avenue, using the right shoulder to pass other cars on the road, the driver lost control of the car, according to state police. It veered left, traveling across all lanes, struck a concrete bridge embankment along the left shoulder, and caught fire.

State troopers on the scene attempted to remove passengers from the car while working to extinguish the fire, officials say. Emergency medical responders were summoned immediately.
Four people died in the crash, including the driver, Isaiah Miller, 20; Ikeam Rogers, 20; Kalyn Billups, 21; and Tyjana Motley, 17, who was pregnant — all from Philadelphia. Medics attempted an emergency Cesarean section to save the fetus but were unsuccessful.
Officials say seven people were in the car at the time of the crash. The three surviving passengers — Bishop Young, 20; Kemore Williams, 18; and a 16-year-old girl — were treated for injuries deemed not life-threatening.
