PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — One person was killed and another was critically injured when their car collided head-on with a van in Tacony Tuesday night.
It happened around 10 p.m. on Torresdale Avenue, near Cottman Avenue.
“The Infiniti was travelling northbound on Torresdale Avenue,” said Chief Inspector Scott Small. “It swerved to go around a double-parked vehicle and then was traveling northbound in the southbound lane, and that’s when there was a head-on collision between that Infiniti and the large van.”
The passenger in the Infiniti, 23-year-old Darius Santoni, was killed. His 18-year-old brother was driving. He is in critical condition.
The driver and a passenger in the van were not hurt.
Police said the driver of the van ran away from the crash scene when a large crowd started to form, as he felt intimidated. However, he returned when police arrived and is cooperating with the investigation.
