Deadly multi-vehicle crash in Port Richmond closes I-95 in both directions for hours

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A deadly car crash closed a section of I-95 in Port Richmond for hours Sunday morning.

Officials say around 4 a.m. six cars crashed on the northbound side of I-95 between exits 26 for the Betsy Ross Bridge and 27 for Bridge Street and Harbison Avenue.

State Troopers closed the north and southbound sides of the highway, stretching from the Betsy Ross Bridge to Cottman Avenue, for investigation.

Just after 11 a.m., both sides reopened. What led to the crash is not yet known.

Traffic cameras showed medics on the scene. Officials say at least one person died.
