TRENTON, N.J. (KYW Newsradio) — A 22-year-old man is dead after he was stabbed at a high school basketball tournament in Trenton Thursday night.

The incident happened at the CURE Insurance Arena on Hamilton Avenue during the final game of the Mercer County boys basketball tournament between Trenton Central High and Notre Dame High from Lawrenceville.

After the game, around 8:30 p.m., authorities said 22-year-old Khalil Glanton was stabbed inside the concourse area of the arena. He was taken to the hospital, where he died a short time later.

Authorities did not release information about what happened leading up to the stabbing. So far, no one has been arrested.

According to the Trenton Public School District, the man was a 2019 grad of Trenton Central High. At this time, the district is not aware of any current students directly involved in the stabbing.

The attack was captured on video and shared on social media. As a result, the district made crisis counselors available to students on Friday. Additional police officers are also patrolling the school.

Trenton police and the Mercer County Homicide Task Force are handling the investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact the task force at 609-989-6406 or email mchtftips@mercercounty.org.

In an unrelated incident, Camden High and Eastside High schools were suspended from the Camden County championship basketball game after a fight broke out on the court.

The Camden City School District issued a statement: “This incident is not an indication of who we are and we expect our student-athletes to compete with sportsmanship. The District will take all the necessary steps for appropriate disciplinary action.”

Officials said no one was seriously injured during that altercation.
