Woman dies after being pinned between 2 school buses outside Del. middle school

NEWARK, Del. (KYW Newsradio) — A woman is dead after she was pinned between two school buses in Delaware Thursday morning.

Delaware State Police say a 54-year-old bus driver was preparing to conduct an emergency exit drill between two parked buses outside Gauger-Cobbs Middle School around 7 a.m. when one of the buses drifted forward and struck her. Investigators do not know why the bus moved.

The woman was taken to a nearby hospital, where she died. Officials have not identified her.

The 53-year-old driver of the bus that struck her was not injured, nor were any of the students aboard either bus.

The school parking lot was closed for four hours as officials investigated. Officials have not said whether anyone will face charges.
