PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Delaware County detectives are trying to identify the man who left threatening messages on the sheriff’s voicemail over the weekend.
Delaware County Sheriff Siddiq Kamara, who is Black and Muslim, received two voicemails over the weekend. The person who called made racist and Islamophobic remarks and threats against his life.
“I’m gonna find your trail and I’m gonna snipe you when you least expect it,” one message said.
Kamara said he was unsettled, but he wanted to release the voicemails in the interest of transparency and to show people just how serious these messages were.
“This right here is unacceptable,” he told NBC10. “It’s a no-go. And whoever did it should be held accountable.”
Delaware County detectives are handling the case and trying to find the person who left those messages. Kamara said he will not be deterred and will continue to do the work for the people of the county.
