PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A Delaware man faces murder charges after police said he killed his 10-year-old daughter and physically abused his two other children.
Badara Kone, 49, of Smyrna, Delaware was charged Monday with second-degree murder and child abuse.
His daughter Fatima was found dead in her bedroom on Thursday, after Delaware State Police said he hit her several times with a leather belt.
According to investigators, the girl fell to the ground and hit her head on a piece of furniture while being struck by Kone. The girl’s two brothers, ages 11 and 15, helped get her to the bedroom, where she was found the next morning by police.
Officers took the boys to a nearby hospital, where detectives found evidence of physical abuse.
According to officials, an autopsy determined the girl’s death was a homicide caused by multiple blunt-force injuries.
