PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Delaware County’s shuttered Taylor Hospital may be getting a new life.

According to our newsgathering partners at NBC10, Todd Strine, owner of Springfield ambulance service Keystone Quality Transport, and his partners are buying the property for a very low price.

Much of the money, NBC10 reported, would be used on upgrades for a new medical tenant they hope to work with. Ridley Park officials have agreed to tax the property lower than they have for a couple of years until the new tenant can start making money.

Earlier this year, Prospect Medical Holdings, a now bankrupt private equity firm, filed a motion to shutter Crozer Health and all of its outpatient facilities licensed with the hospital, including Crozer-Chester Medical Center and Ridley’s Taylor Hospital.

Taylor Hospital closed in late April; Crozer Medical Center, a week later, forcing people who would normally rely on those centers for emergencies to drive farther distances for help.

Only two hospitals remain in Delaware County: Mercy Fitzgerald in Darby and Riddle in Media.
