PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — The deadline is approaching for Delaware County property owners to file an appeal of their 2022 property tax assessment. County officials are urging property owners to file an appeal if a revised valuation is incorrect.
The appeal of a 2022 tax year assessment can be done by submitting the short county property tax assessment appeal form by 4 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 2. That can be done through the county’s website.
"It is possible that the outside vendor didn’t have complete information for some properties, made a mathematical error, or grouped a given property with an inappropriate group of neighboring properties when it looked at comparable sales data," county Councilwoman Christine Reuther said in an official statement.
She says the county wants everyone to be paying their fair share and not a penny more.
In 2017 the property reassessment was ordered by the Delaware County Court of Common Pleas.
Last year, Tyler Technologies performed the assessments. The last county assessment was done two decades ago.
