PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — One of Philadelphia Mayor Cherelle Parker’s original “Big Three” chief advisors is leaving the administration.
Sinceré Harris was Parker’s campaign manager, then accepted the job of deputy mayor for intragovernmental affairs, sustainability and engagement, serving as chief liaison to the city’s labor unions, as well as state and federal governments. She negotiated new contracts with the city workers last year, though it took an eight-day strike by District Council 33 to get to an agreement.
Harris sometimes butted heads with those around her, but allies said that’s the nature of the job she held.
The mayor’s office declined an interview request, but Parker praised Harris in a news release, saying she accepted her resignation with deep gratitude.
“Sincere Harris has been at my side for over 3 1/2 years — she has done so with professionalism, drive, energy, and passion,” Parker wrote. “It is time for Sinceré to pursue her career opportunities outside city government, and I am fully supportive of this decision.”
Aren Platt left his post as deputy mayor for planning and strategic initiatives less than a year into Parker’s term, and was replaced by Vanessa Garrett Harley.
Harris did not respond to an interview request. Her replacement has not been announced.
