Authorities in North York, Pennsylvania say they have identified a person seen on a doorbell camera in a paper plate mask, who called themselves the “Box Demon.”
Northern York County Regional Police said on Wednesday that there is no threat to the public relating to the so-called "Box Demon." The homeowner, whose doorbell camera recorded the incident, was made aware of the "Box Demon's" true identity, and “does not wish to speak any further regarding this incident.”
On Tuesday, police released a video that many described as disturbing, in which the person in the mask and colorful shirt repeatedly said, “I am the Box Demon,” and left an empty package on the porch at around 4:22 a.m., according to the footage.
The video quickly went viral due to its mysterious nature.
There is no word on whether the incident was a prank and no other information has been made available to the public.
