PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Two drivers and a 10-year-old girl were shot in Southwest Philadelphia Thursday night.

Around 8:30 p.m., police responded to 911 calls in the area of 28th Street and Passyunk Avenue, where they found a 23-year-old man slumped over the driver’s side of a Chevy Malibu with gunshot wounds to his head and shoulder. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 10-year-old girl was in the car with him but ran away before police arrived.

“She was able to get out of the vehicle,” said Chief Inspector Scott Small. “According to witnesses, she was in the eastbound lanes on foot, running eastbound, when a good Samaritan picked her up, drove her a few blocks to the 1st Police District station.”

She was taken to the hospital with a graze wound to the head. Police said there were 10 bullet holes in the passenger side of the car, where the girl was seated.

Police also found a 47-year-old man in an Acura near 26th Street and Passyunk Avenue with a gunshot wound to the back. He is in critical condition.

Police believe the shooting happened at 61st Street and Passyunk Avenue, on the other side of the Passyunk Bridge. Detectives found 26 spent shell casings there. Investigators believe both men managed to drive across the bridge before they lost consciousness.
