PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A woman is dead after a head-on collision in Port Richmond early Saturday morning.
It was around 2 a.m. when police said a man in a black 2007 Nissan Titan was traveling north along the 3500 block of Aramingo Avenue at an unsafe speed, just hours after ice, sleet and rain coated the ground.
Police said the man then lost control on the icy road, crossed into the other lane, and struck a silver 2007 Volkswagen Jetta head-on. The impact caused the Volkswagen to cross the median before it came to a stop outside an Aldi. The driver, a 45-year-old woman, was taken to a hospital, where she died.
The Nissan also had a 29-year-old woman inside. She and the driver were taken to a nearby hospital. Both are expected to be OK.
No arrests have been made.
