Driver sought after fatal hit-and-run in New Castle, Delaware

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal hit-and-run that happened Monday night in New Castle, just south of Wilmington.

Authorities said a pedestrian was walking north in the southbound lane of South Dupont Highway, near its merge with Pulaski Highway, when they were struck by a southbound car around 8 p.m.

The pedestrian was thrown from the roadway into a nearby wooded area and was found by emergency crews responding to a separate call, according to police.

The road was closed for four hours last night as investigators combed the scene.
