PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Some of the Eagles fans who saw their beloved birds win the Super Bowl in person returned home early Monday morning.
There were a couple of early morning flights from New Orleans that arrived at Philadelphia International Airport before dawn. Many of the fans were still wearing the jerseys, hoodies, hats and Mardi Gras beads that they had on during the game.
Michael Itidiare of South Jersey was already sporting an ‘Eagles Super Bowl Champions’ hat.
“Obviously, we came back with a ‘W’ so we are flying high right now, pun intended. I love it. I really can’t complain right now!” he said, and that the birds had a home field advantage at the Superdome and it wasn’t even close. “I think there was a genuine sense of brotherhood and brotherly love even despite us not being in Philly. So, it was pretty cool.”
Daniel, also from South Jersey was looking to celebrate with a victory cheesesteak at 4:30 in the morning.
“Oh my God, it was amazing. We were making the Chiefs fans cry out there!” he said.
It turned out to be an easy win in the Big Easy and Stephanie from Chadds Ford was taken aback at how little drama there was as the game progressed.
“We made it to the second half and then it was — I think we’re actually gonna beat them by a lot. This is crazy! Everyone was in such a great mood. It was lovely,” she said.
And it was comforting to Stephanie that the Eagles won in such convincing fashion.
“No one can come at us and be like ‘oh you didn’t deserve it, you didn’t win, that was the refs or whatever.’ But it felt good like - no one can question it,” she said.
