PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Fairmount Water Works is hosting a series of events this fall, educating families on the connections between water, land and how they live.
Built in 1815 along the Schuylkill River, between Boathouse Row and the Philadelphia Museum of Art, Justine O’Gara of Fairmount Water Works said the institution lives up to its position and purpose by educating Philadelphians about the connections between the environment and everyday life.
“We are super busy this year. As you know, it’s America’s 250th, lots of tours going on,” she said.
The Water Works hosts free STEAM programming for students of all ages and year-round educational programming for adults.
Next up on the calendar is a series of dance performances, beginning Sept. 26.
“Naked Stark is a dance group we’ve partnered with in the past. They are a multidisciplinary dance team. They utilize our space in very site-specific ways and do things like moving with these old pieces of our building and its history,” O’Gara said.
Fairmount Water Works is free and open to the public Wednesday through Saturday from 10 am to 5 pm.
