1 dead, 2 critical after stolen car crashes into airport shuttle in Southwest Philly

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — One man is dead, and two more are critical, after a car crash Thursday morning in Southwest Philly.

Officials said shortly after 11 a.m., Tinicum Township Police saw someone driving a stolen blue 2016 Dodge Charger. They gave chase, and the driver fled eastbound on Bartram Avenue into the city.

Police said a white airport transport van was turning left from 89th Street on Bartram Avenue when the Dodge hit the front driver's side of the van.

Fire crews pulled a 23-year-old man out of the passenger's side of the Dodge and took him to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead just before 12:30 p.m.

Officials said the driver of the Dodge, a 30-year-old man, is critical in the hospital.

Police said the 74-year-old man who was driving the white van is also in critical condition.
