PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A man was stabbed to death on a SEPTA platform Sunday afternoon. Officials said the victim was wanted by police for stabbing a dog.
Authorities received a 911 call shortly before 3:30 p.m. saying the man officers were looking for was at Girard Station along the Broad Street Line.
But before officers arrived, someone stabbed him.
"Some sort of altercation, a verbal altercation, which led to the stabbing,” said Capt. Timothy Stephan. “That suspect did flee the location south on Broad Street toward Poplar. A civilian did take a video with her cellphone of that suspect.”
The man was alert and speaking with officers when they arrived, but he died at the hospital about an hour later.
Police have not made any arrests.
