PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Three international students at the University of Pennsylvania have had their visas revoked by the federal government, meaning they are no longer allowed to attend the university and must leave the country immediately.
In a statement, Penn said it appears the “terminations are related to immigration status violations” — not to the pro-Palestinian protests last year. President Donald Trump has vowed to deport non-citizen college students involved in the demonstrations nationwide.
Penn said it is also “aware of reports of encounters with ICE agents” on campus.
Officials at the school acknowledge that “this is an extremely unsettling time for international students and scholars at Penn and in the U.S.”
