PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — More than 100 residents of a luxury apartment complex in downtown Bethlehem are displaced after a massive four-alarm fire Friday afternoon.

Police say the fire broke out on the roof of 510 Flats on Third Avenue around 1:20 p.m. Strong winds quickly fanned the flames across the rooftop. All of the city’s available fire units, along with some from Allentown, were on hand to assist in putting it out and evacuating residents.

Thick smoke poured into the street below the complex. The fire wasn’t contained until almost 7 p.m.

There were no reported injuries to residents or fire crew members.

Authorities say the apartment complex's management group arranged hotels for all 135 displaced residents. The Red Cross was also on scene, assisting.

The building will remain closed for repairs.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation. An update is expected next week.
