NEW JERSEY (KYW Newsradio) — A fire tore through the leasing office of an apartment complex in Blackwood early Saturday morning.

Crews were called to the management office for Lakeview Apartments in Gloucester Township just before 2:30 a.m. Our partners at NBC10 were at the scene. Their footage showed plumes of smoke from the roof of the leasing office as firefighters worked to contain it.

"It's more than just a small fire because the entire building was involved," said Captain Timothy Kohlmyer with the Gloucester Township Police Department. "The good thing was this was separate from any of the residential, so there really was no danger to the residents here."

The fire was under control within an hour or so, but firefighters remained at the scene until just before 6 a.m. to extinguish hotspots.

No firefighter was injured in the blaze.

Authorities called the fire “suspicious in nature.” An investigation is underway.
