DELAWARE COUNTY, Pa. (KYW Newsradio) — Firefighters battled a massive fire at a catholic school in Springfield Township Monday.

Officials say a two-alarm fire started at St. Francis of Assisi School, located at 112 Saxer Avenue, around 5 p.m.

According to our partners at NBC10, it occurred inside the building for preschool, first, and third-grade students.

They say no one was inside the building during the fire.

All classes at the school will be canceled Tuesday. A spokesperson for the Archdiocese of Philadelphia says efforts are underway to locate an alternate learning location for those who will be affected by the loss of classroom space.

What caused the blaze is not yet known.
