PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A suspected drunk driver injured a Philadelphia firefighter responding to a call in West Philadelphia early Monday, according to police.

Around 1:45 a.m., as firefighters were working that call near the intersection of 47th Street and Osage Avenue, a 52-year-man driving a dark-colored sedan crashed into five legally parked vehicles.

As one firefighter attempted to stop him from fleeing, the driver drove over the firefighter's right foot.

Eventually his car came to a stop when it got wedged between a car and the parked fire truck.

Both the driver and the firefighter were taken to Penn-Presbyterian Medical Center in stable condition. Police say the driver was taken into custody.

The five parked cars have damage to the driver's side doors, bumpers, and mirrors. The fire truck has damage to the driver's side.
