Firefighters rescue child from fire in East Germantown, officials say

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A child was rescued from a house fire in East Germantown on Saturday afternoon, according to the Fire Department.

The Department posted on social media that they pulled the child from a building on the 500 block of East Washington Lane.

The child was treated at the scene and then taken to a hospital. No details about the child or their condition have been released.

About 100 first responders, including firefighters and medics, responded to the scene.

It took crews more than two hours to bring the fire under control. A neighboring house was also damaged.

A cause has not yet been identified.
