Former Del. teacher arrested, charged with inappropriately touching students

WILMINGTON, Del. (KYW Newsradio) — A former Delaware teacher is facing sexual abuse charges for inappropriately touching several of his students.

Delaware State Police arrested 57-year-old Vincent Buckwash on Thursday after their investigation revealed he had touched five students on multiple occasions as an elementary school teacher in Wilmington.

The investigation began in May 2024, after school administrators and family services alerted police about reported incidents involving Buckwash.

Authorities say Buckwash was removed from the school by the Red Clay Consolidated School District and retired two months later.

Officials say the reported incidents involving five students happened during the 2023-2024 school year.

Buckwash turned himself in on Thursday and was released on bond, according to police.

Buckwash faces several charges, including sexual abuse of a child.
