PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Five current and former corrections officers at the federal prison at Fort Dix are facing charges for allegedly smuggling knives, drugs and other contraband into the facility.
Cameron Paige, 43, Ian Dennis, 32, Eden Germain, 27, Joe Lee McQuay, 48, and Keith Navarro Palmer, 41, were arrested and charged with criminal conspiracy to smuggle contraband into the prison. Dennis and Paige were also charged with allegedly receiving bribes.
According to charging documents, it was from May 2025 to May 2026 when the group collaborated to smuggle items such as knives, marijuana, tobacco, phones, tool kits and a tattoo kit into the prison to sell to inmates.
Prosecutors said one of the knives was used by McQuay to stab an inmate during a financial dispute.
Investigators said Dennis was key to the operation, as he was responsible for searching employees as they arrived at work. In all, prosecutors say the group exchanged more than $100,000 through payment apps.
Dennis, Paige and Germain appeared in court Wednesday and were released on bail. Each defendant faces up to 5 or 10 years in prison if convicted.
