SOUTH JERSEY (KYW Newsradio) — If a shot and a beer aren’t enough for you, New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy is offering even more incentives to convince people to get vaccinated against COVID-19.
On the same day that many restrictions were lifted in the Garden State, Murphy announced additions to Operation Jersey Summer, an ongoing campaign to encourage New Jerseyans to get their shots.
The first promotion, called Uncork the Vaccination, offers people 21 and older a free glass of wine if they received their first shot this month.
The perk is available at nine participating wineries, mostly in South Jersey:
• Amalthea Cellars in Atco
• Auburn Road Vineyards in Pilesgrove Township
• Bellview Winery in Landisville
• DiMatteo Vineyards in Hammonton
• Salem Oak Vineyards in Pedricktown
• Terhune Orchards in Lawrence Township
• Tomasello Winery in Hammonton
• Villa Milagro Vineyards in Pohatcong Township
• White Horse Winery in Hammonton
“So folks, get out and get your shot in May,” Murphy said, “then head out to one of these participating wineries. Take a walk through the vineyards and enjoy some of the best that Jersey has to offer.”
The biggest incentive, Murphy said, is the Vax and Visit.
“Every New Jerseyean who has at least their first shot by July Fourth is eligible to receive a free, season state parks vax pass, good for entrance at any one of our state parks for the rest of the 2021 season,” he said.
The 2021 season runs from Memorial Day weekend until the end of the year. The pass normally costs $50, and parks often charge daily walk-in or parking fees.
If you already bought a pass and are fully vaccinated, you can receive reimbursement.
Murphy is greatly involved in his final incentive, as well as his wife, Tammy.
Individuals who received at least one dose can enter for the chance to have dinner with them both at Drumthwacket, the governor’s Princeton home, or his shore home at Island State Beach Park.
“At either location, this will include a private tour of the house and the grounds, along with dinner,” he added.
Entries must be submitted by May 31 online.
To date, more than 8.1 million vaccine doses have been administered in New Jersey. More than 3.9 million residents are now fully vaccinated.
