BRIDGEPORT, Pa. (KYW Newsradio) — Homes have been evacuated and River Road near Coates Street in Bridgeport is closed as hazmat crews respond to a gas leak.
Officials say the leak happened around 3:30 p.m. as a construction crew working in the area struck an underground gas pipeline.
Authorities said some homes may be evacuated out of an abundance of caution, but until then, residents in nearby residences are being asked to shelter-in-place.
The shelter-in-place was lifted just before 5:30 p.m. There is still no timeline on when the road will reopen.
