PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A girl was run over by a dump truck in Northeast Philadelphia but escaped with just a scratch.
It happened after school on Friday at Summerdale Avenue and Marcella Street. Surveillance video shows the girl looking at her phone as she walks into the street right in front of the truck.
At the last second, she sees the truck and tries to run, but it hits her.
Bladimir Gomera works at a nearby jewelry store and rushed to help her.
“It was like a miracle that we were outside and we had that reaction, because you never know how you’re going to react to a situation like that,” he told NBC10. “She had no bruises, no blood, she was OK.”
Gomera said the girl still had her phone in her hand after the incident; she never let go of it. The girl was able to walk home.
Workers said the driver returned to the scene to thank them, but said he lost his job because of the accident.
