PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Authorities in Berkeley Township, New Jersey, are investigating a collision that left one child dead and another hospitalized Wednesday afternoon.
It happened shortly before 1 p.m. at the intersection of Sherman and Moorage avenues.
According to the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office, an 11-year-old boy was riding an electric dirt bike, with an 11-year-old girl as his passenger, when he ran a stop sign and struck a Ford F-250 pickup truck.
Both children were rushed to area hospitals. The girl was pronounced dead; the boy was treated for his injuries and released.
Investigators said the driver stayed at the scene and showed no signs of impairment.
The crash remains under investigation.
