PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — The Philadelphia Police Department is asking for the public’s help in identifying three young girls who they say assaulted several people and vandalized cars parked outside a community pool in Kensington last week.

It happened on July 21 around 4:30 p.m. at the McVeigh Recreation Center. The juveniles were told to leave the pool for being unruly. They refused and then threatened staff.

Authorities said they became hostile and followed staff inside, where they swung their arms at them.

They are also accused of vandalizing three parked cars nearby, leaving behind scratches, a dent and a broken windshield.

Five people also complained of mild injuries.

According to city officials, this incident followed several other unruly events at the rec center — people jumping into the pool at night and vandalizing equipment. As a result, the McVeigh pool will remain closed for the summer.
