PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — We have been receiving this advice from dentists for decades: Get your teeth checked twice each year.
When going to the dentist, many of us probably think about cavities and teeth cleanings. However, gum health is one of the most important reasons to get the exam.

Gum disease and infected gums have been linked to various health conditions, including heart disease, cancer, rheumatoid arthritis and diabetes.
One part of our body can have a dramatic effect on other parts. Gum health is important.
