PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Philadelphia prosecutors have withdrawn most of the charges against the man accused of being the getaway driver for the individual who shot and killed a sanitation worker in Mayfair last November.
The commonwealth withdrew the four gun charges against 31-year-old Rasheem Trusty, including possession and carrying without a license. He still faces murder and conspiracy charges.
Prosecutors say Trusty was the driver of an Outback Subaru that helped co-defendant Nushar Scott flee the scene after allegedly murdering 35-year-old Ikeem Johnson, an on-duty Philadelphia sanitation worker.
Surveillance video from multiple angles and sources, including residential Ring cameras, showed Johnson loading a trash truck around 10:30 a.m. in Mayfair as a dark-colored Subaru circled the area.
Video also showed the alleged shooter in dark clothing walk up to the trash truck and fire at least a dozen shots, killing Johnson.
Trusty is set to be formally arraigned on Nov. 1.
