PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Attention Potterheads and muggles alike: The Wizarding World is coming to Philadelphia.
Harry Potter fans can get their mischief managed at The Franklin Institute’s upcoming exhibition, which opens early next year.
After its Philadelphia debut, which is expected to boost the local economy significantly, the magical exhibit will tour the world.
Potter fans can anticipate the latest innovations in immersive design and technology. Authentic props and original costumes from the films will also be featured.
“Whether it’s the books that they read or the movies they love or now even the plays … it crosses generations, and people are going to want to come see this exhibition,” said Larry Dubinski, president and CEO of the museum.
“They are going to want to eat at our restaurants, they are going to want to stay at our hotels. They are going to want to go to other cultural institutions and historical sites. This is a big win for Philadelphia as we come out of this pandemic.”
Dubinski said this is not the first time the Franklin has premiered an exhibition like this. They’re following in the footsteps of King Tutt, Marvel and “Jurassic World” showcases.
“Harry Potter: The Exhibition” is still in development by Warner Bros. Themed Entertainment, in partnership with Imagine Exhibitions and EMC Presents.
Information on ticket sales is expected to released in the coming months.
