PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Health officials are warning of a possible measles exposure at the Philadelphia International Airport on the Fourth of July.
The Philadelphia Health Department said a person diagnosed with measles passed through terminals A, B and C between 7:30 a.m. and 11:15 a.m.
Health officials urge those who may have been exposed to check their vaccination status and watch for symptoms. If you're protected from the virus, officials say you're in the clear.
Those who aren’t protected can contract measles up to 2 hours after someone else with the virus left the same room or airspace.
Early symptoms include fever, runny nose, cough, and red, watery eyes, followed by a rash, which can lead to pneumonia, brain infection and death.
As of July 10, there have been 104 measles cases reported in Pennsylvania. The majority are in Lancaster and Lebanon counties.
