PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A Montgomery County firefighter was fired Tuesday after officials said he used a racial slur during radio transmissions.
Officials from Horsham Fire Company No. 1 said it was at an incident on County Line Road about 4 p.m. Tuesday when the employee — a firefighter and EMT — used a racial slur which was broadcast over county radio communications. Officials did not identify the employee.
According to fire officials, the employee was fired as soon as the emergency vehicle he was on returned to the station that night.
They said they have arranged for company employees to undergo mandatory sensitivity and professionalism training in the wake of the incident.
