PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A 24-year-old Montgomery County man who previously pleaded guilty to child pornography is now facing new charges of child sex assault. He is accused of molesting a 10-month-old and sharing a video of the crime.
According to the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office, police received a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children on Wednesday that traced possible child pornography over the messaging service Kik to an account owned by Brian Groo, of Horsham.
Groo was on probation and required to comply with national sex offender registry guidelines after serving jail time for 2019 child porn charges.
When police went to Groo’s home on Maple Avenue, he told them he had a “secret phone” hidden under the couch, according to the criminal complaint. Investigators found the Kik app on that phone and a video of Groo molesting a 10-month-old.
Groo told police he created and sent that video after he received a video from a woman that showed her molesting a child, believed to be about 1 year old.
Groo is being held in the Montgomery County Correctional Facility on charges including the rape of a child and child pornography. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for later this month.
